This document deals with a rather unknown feature of planar junction diodes: their biasdependent dynamical resistance making them Lorentzian noise generators whose lifetime can be tuned electrically. This feature, useful to produce electrically coloured noise, also is the basis of a 1/f noise synthesis process taking place in the channel of resistors while their resistance noise is measured. From the above, the main question this paper answers is: Do we teach our engineers the proper way to measure resistance noise in resistors? And the surprising answer this paper gives is: Not at all.
